Poem

This is an extract from a contemporary poem by Dimitra Ioannou

Now that Athens is so Hot, I’d like to start a blog called Hot Athens.

Hot Athens would be a joke, when cold. But temperatures are journals, and journals can be fake as I might have been fake too.

If I wrote Hot Athens everyday, I would be a very allegorical person. I would meet allegorical bodies of all types and sizes, ageing, in the making, unfiltered. I would transcribe talks about poetry as the new geography, art as the new everything, queer as the new politics.

I would rephrase these in a thousand different ways so as to form the Hot Athenian folktales.
